Bilaj Al Jazayer Beach

شاطئ بلاج الجزائر

Bilaj Al Jazayer is a 3 km public beach on Bahrain's south-west coast, temporarily closed since 13 April 2026 for a major upgrade.

About Bilaj Al Jazayer Beach

Bilaj Al Jazayer, often called Jazayer or Jazaer Beach, stretches about 3 km along the south-western coast, around 40 km from Manama. It has long been one of the country's most popular public beaches, with white sand, clear shallow water and a weekend crowd of families and friends. Before the closure the beach had lifeguard towers, showers and toilets, a prayer area, a first aid clinic, food stalls, a children's play area, a long bike path and rentable chalets, sun loungers, boats and jet skis.

The beach is part of Edamah's Bilaj Al Jazayer masterplan of about 1.6 million square metres. Edamah closed the public beach on 13 April 2026 to start phase one, covering over 80,000 square metres with shaded walkways, cycling and jogging tracks, a playground, fitness zones, food and retail units, landscaping and more parking. The masterplan also includes the planned Bahrain Surf Park and Azure Beach Club.

Edamah has said the reopening date will be announced through the project's official channels. Until then, nearby options include the resort beaches of Zallaq and Janat Dilmun water park. Bahrain's tourism authority has described the beach as one of the country's largest and most secluded public beaches, with shallow water suited to children. When it reopens, expect new paths and shade rather than the old layout.
